In our last article we covered the features and updates made to Adobe Dimension CC 2019. Today, we’ll have a look at the new features and updates available in Adobe Photoshop CC 2019, and there are quite a few of them to get through, so we’ll be jumping right in.
NEW FEATURES & UPDATES AVAILABLE IN PHOTOSHOP CC 2019:
Editing Text on images:
- Editing text:
Just like in InDesign and Illustrator, you can now simply double click directly on text to edit it. Once you’ve changed the wording, simply click away toauto-commit. - Changing Text Colour:
A new colour wheel, featuring colour-harmony has been introduced. Once you’ve tried a few colours, you may want to use one of the colours you’ve tried previously or remove the colour edits altogether. If this is the case, you no longer need to use the secret keyboard shortcut. With the new version, you can now simply press Command-Z to undo each change. - Free Transform:
There’s no longer a need to hold in the Shift key to do this, because scale proportionally is on by default.
Double Exposure Effects:
In this demonstration, a picture of a bear and a picture of a forest were used.
- Adobe Sensei Powered Subject:
Cutting out the subject of the image (in this case, the bear) would usually involve using the Quick Select tool, followed by time spent dragging your selection borders until you’ve selected the image you wish to cut. However, the new Adobe Sensei powered Select Subject tool enables you to perform this process with just one click. - New and Improved Select and Mask:
The next step is clicking the Select and Mask button. Once you’ve done this, you’ll use the new Surface Pen on the all new Microsoft Surface Studio to fix any background left around the edges of the subject, by painting it out with the built-in Refine Edge tool. Once done, simply click away and then click OK for the mask to be created. - From there, go to your Layers tab and drag the mask down to your other image (in this case, the forest).
- Live Blend Modes:
Usually, when getting to this point, to view the forest, you’d need to use the Blend Mode and either know which one you want, or you’d have to click on each of them one by one until you find the best one. However, with the latest version of Photoshop CC, all you need to do is click on “normal” in your Layers tab and you’ll have a live preview of each mode as you hover over them in the drop-down menu.
New Frame Tool:
Laying out multiple images on a canvas can be time consuming, especially when you need images to be specific sizes to fit into their allotted slot. No more.Simply drag your frame out, drag your image into it, and Photoshop CC 2019 will automatically scale it down perfectly and automatically mask off excess image, while still giving you access to the whole image, allowing you to resize and move it around within the frame.
Plus, the Frame tool is not limited to square and rectangular shapes. By converting text and images to a Frame with a right-click, or elliptical and vector frames using Frame tool, images can be dragged into any shape, size or form. Masking has never been easier.Editing with ease. That’s what you’ll be doing when you use these.
