Adobe Acrobat has made it a lot simpler to work in teams, no matter where we are in the world or which devices we’re using. It enables us to create and save PDF files on desktops and mobile devices, and work across various software applications such as Adobe apps or Microsoft Office, meaning we can use it virtually anywhere and at any time.
Great as this is, if you don’t know how to use Acrobat DC, it won’t do you any good. It’s Adobe Acrobat Awareness month for us so we thought we’d take this time to show you a few tips to help you on your way. In this post, we are going to show you how to take a PDF file, export it to its original PowerPoint format where you can edit it, and save it as a PDF again, across different devices and various software applications.
For this example we are going to look at the steps you would take if you received a Slideshow Pdf to your email and opened it in your mobile device.
1. Open the Acrobat PDF file from your Email and Save it, using your Mobile Device
Open the email app on your mobile device and open the email containing the PDF file. Tap and hold the PDF attachment until a popup of options appear and move it to “Save to Files” and save it in your Creative Cloud folder. This will enable the synchronizing capabilities of Adobe Creative Cloud that allow you to work on the same PDF file across all of your devices, as long as you’re logged onto your Creative Cloud Account. Close your email app.
2. Open saved Acrobat PDF and Export it to Microsoft PowerPoint, using your Mobile Device
Open the Adobe Acrobat app on your mobile device, go to “Recent Files”. Select “Creative Cloud” from the dropdown menu next to “Recent Files” at the top of the page. Tap on the PDF file that you’ve saved to open it. Click on the icon at the top left corner of the screen (that looks like a few pages behind each other), select “Export PDF” from the dropdown menu and select “Microsoft PowerPoint Document”. After a few moments, your PDF will appear as a PowerPoint document. Close Adobe Acrobat.
3. Edit and Save the file in Microsoft PowerPoint, using your Mobile Device
Open the Microsoft PowerPoint app on your mobile device, select “More” from your “Places” list. Select “Creative Cloud” under your “Locations” list on the left to view and open the PowerPoint slides file you’ve exported to here. At this point, you’ll be able to edit the file. If you want your saved changes to be automatically saved to Creative Cloud too, make sure that your Autosave (found under “File”) is on. Once all your edits have been made, close Microsoft PowerPoint.
4. Open PowerPoint Document and Save as an Acrobat PDF, using your Desktop
Since it’s synchronized in Creative Cloud, you’ll be able to open your PowerPoint document on your desktop and edit it. To save this document as a PDF file again, click the “File” tab and select “Save as Adobe PDF in the dropdown menu. You’ll have the option to save the PDF on your Desktop, to your Creative Cloud folders, or share it as an email.
Now that you know how to do this for Powerpoint, you can follow similar steps for MS Word and MS Excel documents too. We hope that these steps will enhance your workflow and provide you with the simple convenience that Adobe aims to provide to all its users.
