Adobe Illustrator App Could Roll Out To IPads In 2020
Photoshop is not the only Adobe app to come to iPads.
Adobe’s suite of creative software that are originally accessible only via desktops and laptops are coming to iPads now that users are starting to lean towards tablets because of their versatility.
Last year, Adobe announced that Photoshop CC will be available on the iPad “in late 2019.”
Now, Bloomberg reports that Adobe’s integration of its creative software products into the iPad is not limited to the Photoshop as the developer also plans to roll out an iPad app for the Adobe Illustrator.
The Adobe Illustrator is a popular vector graphics editor that came to life in 1985. It is widely used by web designers, graphic designers and virtual artists to basically create artwork from scratch.
Bloomberg said according to people familiar with the matter, Adobe will preview Illustrator for iPad at its Max conference next month before it rolls out the service in 2020.
When reached for comment, an Adobe spokeswoman did not deny the rumored plan, but said: “We have nothing new to share at this time.”
If confirmed, Illustrator would be a great addition to Adobe’s list of iPad apps. The developer already offers Fresco and Premiere Rush to iPad users.
The news comes just days after Bloomberg reported that some beta testers of Photoshop’s iPad app found that it lacked some essential features that the desktop version has.
“Feature-wise, it feels like a beefed-up cloud-based version of their existing iPad apps and not ‘real Photoshop’ as advertised,” one of the early testers reportedly said. “I understand it is based on desktop Photoshop code, but it doesn’t feel like it right now.” …Read more
Adobe Illustrator for iPadOS Coming Right After Photoshop
Adobe is investing heavily on the iPad. After announcing Photoshop CC for iPad back in October 2018 in Adobe Max, the San Jose-based company is poised to announce the second must-have art package: Illustrator.
According to Bloomberg, Adobe will preview the application on the iPad Pro at its Max conference in November. It hopes to launch it by 2020. Illustrator is a vector-based illustration software that became the industry’s golden standard after the passing of Macromedia Freehand – which ended development in 2003 and was purchased by Adobe in 2005…Read more
Adobe May Reveal an iPad Version of Illustrator in 2020
Adobe may research Illustrator for iPad at its Adobe conference in early November and plan to launch the full version sometime 2020, as per the latest report. It is expected that the app may mirror many features from the desktop version of Illustrator. Last week it was reported by Bloomberg that the betas of Photoshop for iPad are missing some features and the other key functions from the desktop version, which may not be the same, which was promised.
Daring Fireball’s John Gruber wrote that Adobe is “genuinely all-in” on Photoshop for iPad. He also said that the team is planning to add features iteratively on an aggressive schedule. The app might provide an update on Photoshop for iPad at its Max conference, so we likely won’t have to wait longer to learn more about Adobe’s plan, reported by Bloomberg last week.
Both Apple and Adobe have a mutual interest in Photoshop and to bring Illustrator to the iPad. By bringing Illustrator, it is seen that Adobe is charging ahead with plans to bring more of its creative cloud software to Apple’s iPad. …Read more
Illustrator tipped as Adobe’s next big iPad app
It isn’t exactly a secret that Adobe is looking to have a strong presence on mobile. Not only has it already released a variety of apps on Android and iOS devices, but Photoshop CC, a Creative Cloud version of its immensely popular app, is currently in testing on iPad. According to a new report, Photoshop won’t be the only big-name app Adobe brings to iPad, as Illustrator may be next.
So says Bloomberg, which spoke to unnamed sources familiar to Adobe’s plans. Apparently, the company will announce the iPad version of Illustrator at its Max conference in November, where the app will also be previewed. The app will then launch at some point in 2020, but that’s all those sources were able to tell Bloomberg about it.
That means we don’t know when in 2020 it’ll launch, nor do we know if it’ll go through a beta phase before wide release. Assuming Adobe follows the same release schedule as it has for Photoshop on iPad, then we’ll likely see some kind of beta that allows users to test it out and give Adobe feedback on features and functionality.
When Bloomberg reached out for a comment from Adobe, the company only said that it has nothing to share at this time. The notion that Adobe will look to Illustrator as its next big iPad app makes a lot of sense, though, as the app would lend itself well to tablets. That’s especially true when the Apple Pencil is specifically targeted at designers and illustrators, giving Adobe a lot of incentive to make its well-known Illustrator app available on iPad.
We’ll see what happens from here, but with this report claiming that the app will be revealed as soon as next month, we probably don’t have long to wait before we get the confirmation we’re looking for… Read more
